A series of tragic incidents has occurred in Bexar County, with four suspected domestic violence murder-suicides reported in less than three weeks. Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar finds this number shocking, noting that half of the county's homicides this year are related to domestic violence.

One of the victims is Ana Rennie, a 55-year-old mother and surgical technician at North Central Baptist. Her life was cut short in a murder-suicide on July 3. Her husband, Robert James Rennie, is alleged to have shot and killed her before taking his own life.
